PROVIDENCE — On Saturday, April 22, the annual Men’s Conference was held at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul. Organized by the Office of Faith Formation, the theme for this year’s conference was “Made For Sacrifice.”
All are invited to attend Holy Mass Sunday, May 7 for the Jubilee Celebration for the Religious at St. Kevin Parish, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick beginning at noon with celebrant and homilist, His Excellency, Bishop Richard G. Henning.
Bishop Tobin visited the diocesan homeless shelter and helped to serve the 35 guests an Easter brunch of ham, rice and green beans. After offering a blessing, Bishop Tobin distributed prayer cards to each of the guests present.
PROVIDENCE — With two months left to go in the 2023 Catholic Charity Appeal, the annual collection has reached 80% of its goal to raise $7 million. During the Lenten season, pastors and laity made presentations to parishioners about the importance of the Appeal in supporting numerous diocesan outreach ministries.
The Rhode Island House of Representatives is voting TODAY Thu., April 27 on a bill (2023 -- H5006) that will allow for state taxpayer-funding for abortion-on-demand in RI, both through the state-managed Medicaid program and through state employee health benefits programs, by removing statutory prohibitions thereupon that have been in place since the '70s. Father Normand L. Courtemanche, 83, Pastor Emeritus of the former Our Lady of Consolation Parish, Pawtucket, died on Thursday, April 20, 2023. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for the repose of Father’s soul on Wednesday, April 26, at 10am, at St. James Church, Division Street, Manville. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manville.

Christ has risen!” I said to my children on the Wednesday morning after Easter, as I had done each day since Easter Sunday. “Stop saying it every day!” my children bellowed. “I can’t!” I replied, “It’s still Easter.” Being consoled by the fact that the Octave of Easter was almost over and with it my Easter greeting, I was allowed a few more Easter greetings that week.
