WASHINGTON (CNS) — When the Supreme Court hears oral arguments Dec. 1 for the biggest abortion case in decades, all eyes — and ears — will be on the court.
The upcoming Dobbs v. Jackson case out of Mississippi will be heard by the Supreme Court on December 1. This case may be a turning point to overturning Roe vs. Wade - - or at the very least establish limits by determining the personhood of the unborn.
PROVIDENCE — In conjunction with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Providence, the Gregorian Concert Choir and Festival Orchestra will perform the “The Sounds of the Season” concert on Sunday, December 5 at 3 p.m., to benefit Bishop Tobin’s “Keep the Heat On” challenge which assists poor and low income families with utility expenses. One of the most intriguing incidents in the early ministry of Jesus involved the cleansing of a leper. The Gospel of Mark (1: 40-45) records that a man with leprosy approached Jesus, knelt before him, and begged to be cured. Jesus, “moved with pity” cured the man but then “warned him sternly” not to tell anyone what had happened. “See that you tell no one anything,” Jesus demanded.

Four years after first becoming a “Friar,” one recent Providence College graduate is beginning his journey towards becoming an actual Friar — that is to say, a member of the black and white bedecked Order of Preachers that gives the college its mascot, its color scheme and its institutional charism.
Following a year in which a global pandemic posed significant challenges to schools everywhere, the Diocese of Providence’s Catholic Schools Office is reporting an increase of 4.85 percent in enrollments this year, primarily in its diocesan, parish and private elementary and middle schools. This represents a growth of 445 students over the 2020-2021 academic year.
