(PROVIDENCE) -The Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, will visit and offer a prayer for the guests of Emmanuel House located at 239 Public Street, on Monday, December 21st at 6:00 p.m.
Guests of the shelter will have an informal dinner of pizza and receive Christmas gifts of warm clothing.
Emmanuel House opened in 2010 and provides shelter to more than 35 guests each night and offers services such as addiction recovery, employment resources and much more.
The diocese provides grants from the Catholic Charity Appeal for utilities, insurance and other costs. Also support from parishes, individuals, and other entities have donated food, volunteered their time and provided financial gifts.
The Diocese of Providence has continued its partnership with the state of Rhode Island to provide emergency shelter year round. The state’s Consolidated Homeless Fund Partnership provides funding for staffing at the shelter.
