(CENTRAL FALLS, R.I.)- The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence heating assistance campaign, ‘Keep the Heat On,’ was launched Tuesday in Central Falls at the home of the Andres family. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin presented Mr. Otoniel Andres a check for $200 for assistance with their gas bill.
“Since its founding, the Keep the Heat On appeal has been a grand success. It has made a significant difference for thousands of individuals and families in our region – warming their homes, and warming their hearts. I am truly grateful to the good people who have supported the program in the past and I pray they will be able to do so once again this year,” said Bishop Tobin.
The ‘Keep the Heat On’ heating assistance program is entering its thirteenth year of providing heating assistance for individuals and families who have exhausted all other public and private means of assistance. Since it was established in 2005, the program has raised and provided more than $2.65 million in heating assistance to more than 12,000 Rhode Island households in need.
