The 40 Days for Life mission continues as we, in conjunction with R.I. Right to Life, are sharing the following information:
Assisted Suicide Hearing
Senate Bills Number 2019-S0157 and 2019-S0320 --- sponsored by Senators Goldin, Coyne, Euer, and Miller --- which seek to legalize Assisted Suicide in Rhode Island, have been scheduled for a hearing on Thursday, April 25th, before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The hearing will be held in Room 313 at the "Rise of the Senate" -- approximately 4:30 pm, and is expected to last late into the evening as there are many bills on the agenda. Please be there if you can to testify, to pray and show your support in some manner. If you cannot be there, your prayers will reach God’s ears from where ever you are praying.
In addition:
The battle over the extreme NY/VA style abortion bill continues to quietly rage. The Senate Judiciary Committee has not yet scheduled a vote on S 152 Substitute A.
Here is what you can do to help:•We are asking all 40 Days for Life prayer warriors to be visible at the State House every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Abortion proponents in pink shirts have been swarming the floor of the Senate in support of the bill. We need to match their efforts with passionate pro-life advocates wearing blue.
•Second, abortion proponents are making phone calls to the office of the Senate President. We need to match them “call for call” beginning at 2:45 p.m. through 4:15 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The phone number for the office of the Senate President is (401) 222-6655 - simply state your name and town of residence and let them know that you oppose the extreme New York and Virginia style abortion expansion bill. If at first the line is busy, keep trying... spread the word within your parishes, committees, family and friends.
•Third, please continue referring people to the RI Right to Life online petition (call 278-2518 if you need assistance). Having more people sign the online petition will help us quickly turn out a maximum number of emails and phone calls if and when a vote is scheduled in the Senate.
