A well-known Christian theologian has observed,
“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was ‘thank-you’ that would suffice.”
This wise observation reminds us that the spirit of thanksgiving is at the heart and soul of our Christian Faith. After all we are a
“eucharistic people.” Week after week we gather at the Lord’s table to “give thanks and praise to God.”
Although Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday and not a Christian holyday, it offers us, nonetheless, a perfect opportunity to pause, reflect, count our blessings, and to praise God for his goodness and love.
It is also an opportunity for me to sincerely and personally thank you for all you do for the Church. Thank you for your vibrant and active faith. Thank you for your personal, material and spiritual support. All that the Church does - we couldn’t do it without you!
I pray that you and your family and friends will have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
