Yesterday the governor of the State of RI announced the closure of all RI schools for the remainder for the school year. This came on the heels of a similar declaration by the Governor of Massachusetts on April 21.
Regretfully, with schools closed and distance learning continuing for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year, all of our CAL Schools in RI and Massachusetts that have registered to participate in either soccer or volleyball will not be able to enjoy the joy of participation and representing their school in athletics this spring.
At the present time the CAL Office is closed and the staff has been furloughed. We are awaiting the re-opening of our churches and all the Diocesan Offices. When that time comes we will be able to have the opportunity to verify the payments that were received and then request refunds to be paid out from the Diocesan Fiscal Office. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this delay.
We hope that this health crisis will come to an end in the near future and while many things may change going forward, it is our hope that we can plan to hold a fall athletic season as we have in the past.
Please keep safe and be healthy.
