PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has appointed Most Reverend Bruce Alan Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., as the tenth Bishop of Providence. Bishop Lewandowski is currently serving as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The changes were publicized today in Washington, D.C. by Cardinal Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.
The diocese will host a press conference this morning, Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 10 a.m. with Bishop Lewandowski in the lower level of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul. Following the press conference, Bishop Lewandowski will celebrate Holy Mass in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul at Noon.
FOR THE MEDIA There will be an opportunity for moderated questions and answers with the media. The press conference will be held in the hall on the lower level of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul (enter from the Fenner Street side of the Cathedral). Reserved media parking will be available near 30 Fenner Street—follow signage for media parking.
