December 15 was a joyous occasion over at the St. Martin de Porres Senior Center for the Diocese of Providence as they celebrated their annual Christmas party. The afternoon was full of carols, thoughtful gifts, a beautiful meal, and a special visit from Bishop Thomas J. Tobin. Bishop Tobin told the seniors that he prays that God will continue to bless them this Christmas season and in the new year to come.

PROVIDENCE—Two neighboring parishes which have long collaborated and shared a pastor, staff, programs, and resources will now be formally combined. After consulting the diocesan College of Consultors and the Council of Priests, Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of Providence, approved the request of the pastor and leadership of two parishes to merge Saint Madeleine Sophie Parish into Saint Catherine of Siena Parish effective January 24, 2023.

Visitation will be in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue, on Friday, January 6, from 5pm – 7pm, followed by a parish Mass at 7pm. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of his soul will be offered on Saturday, January 7, at 10am, at Blessed Sacrament Church, Providence. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
