Every person should walk unhesitatingly according to their own personal gifts and duties in the path of a living faith which arouses hopes and works through charity. – Vatican Council II Lumen Gentium 41
The Office for Planning & Financial Services provides a variety of services to diocesan and parish leadership relative to planning and the delivery of diocesan services to parishes. Under the direction of Rev. Msgr. Raymond Bastia, the office oversees more than 140 parishes, 80 offices and programs and 3,000 employees as well as 42 schools.
The office serves as a user-friendly resource to those that minister in parishes and schools while instituting good control procedures to ensure that the Diocese and diocesan corporations comply with regulatory changes in state and federal law.
Each year, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence commissions an audit by independent auditors of diocesan financial activities. Once submitted, the Bishop and the Diocesan Finance Council carefully review and accept the findings. In addition to publishing the actual report, the Diocese also provides a “user-friendly” or summarized format of the Financial Report of the central and ministerial services of the Diocese of Providence. The “user-friendly” report reflects those areas of ministerial activity supported by the General Fund or the Catholic Charity Appeal.
While the Diocese recognizes that financial reporting is an important part of good stewardship, it is not the complete reality. Within the framework of the dedicated lives of our diocesan family of clergy, religious and laity the message of the Gospel continues to be announced. Challenges are met in faith, obstacles are overcome through hope, joys are shared in love and a spiritual vision is provided that identifies us as members of Christ’s church to our world.Financial Accountability Hotline
